The Itinerary

The route covers 400 miles from Bawtry, via Goole to Hull in the east and then over to York via Beverley and Market Weighton.  From York Walter Wilkinson travelled to Wetherby, Otley and Ilkley.  From Skipton, Wilkinson took a train so that he could fulfil a prior engagement in Bradford  and  then he resumed his walk to Bolton Abbey  and then via Patley Bridge & Ripon to Thirsk, Ampleforth , Kirkby Moorside  & Appleton Le Moors. He then returned to Thirsk and headed for Richmond, Leyburn & Aysgarth & then via Kettlewell to finish with a stay in a cottage somewhere on Blubberhouses Moor.

The cycle tour follows the same route, except that there will be no train ride into Bradford and the finishing point will be at Skipton, just in time for the puppet festival.
