Day 9

I was up very early & cycling in the rain from Otley to meet up with some friends who were to join me to cycle from there to Pateley Bridge. Disaster!  I picked up some broken glass somewhere near Burley roundabout and we faffed about for an hour or so getting that fixed.

Since Phil wasn't able to act as support vehicle that day, the plan was to take two cars to Pateley, come back to Ilkley in one & then cycle back to Pateley & throw all the bikes in the back & return by the first car for a meal back in Ilkley. Hardly an eco-friendly & efficient way of doing this bit of the route, but it was the best plan we could come up with. 

In Greenhow, my car packed up and the plan went to worms. 'Cam belt. It's probably terminal', said the AA man who came to try & rescue us. Two and a half hours later the truck came to transport the dead vehicle back to Leeds & then I had to get a lift back out to Ilkley for the pre arranged dinner.
 
Not a good day.
