♠ Grassroots Endowment Fund - York & North Yorkshire Community Foundation is delighted to be part of the government's new Grassroots programme. The scheme operates with two strands. There is a small grants programme that enables community organisations to apply for grants of up to £5000. The second is an endowment challenge that encourages local donors by providing government match funding for every £1 donated. This will build an endowment fund for the region that will benefit community groups into the future.
The money is part of £130 million nationwide drive by the Government's Office of the Third Sector to support thousands of voluntary and community groups throughout England.
Stephen Beyer, Director of York & North Yorkshire Community Foundation, said " This is great news for the region. Strong communities start at the grassroots. This new scheme will enable us to continue supporting grassroots projects into the future. We are also urging individuals and businesses who want to put something back into the local community to consider using this scheme. The match funding, together with tax relief, enables big returns on donations so there has never been a better and more cost effective way to give"
♠ Catalyst Fund - If you have a strong commitment to North Yorkshire and would like to play a part in the grant making process, you could join the Catalyst fund. Shareholders contribute to a long term fund that will support community projects in the region. Each year shareholders decide on the themes and priorities of the fund for the coming year. During the year they receive updates on projects funded and are given the opportunity to visit projects.
♠ Named Fund - We can help you set up your own named fund, where you can choose an area of need that you would like to support or direct funds to a particular local area. You can choose the level of involvement that suits you.
