Named Funds
A named fund can be set up in your own name, the name of a family member, or company, enabling you to support the causes you care about most. They are easy to set up and flexible to manage. We handle all the administration of the fund and the grants you make, and you can have as little or as much involvement as you choose.
There is a simple 3 step process to setting up your own unique fund.
Step 1: Choose what sort of causes you would like to support.
Field of interest fund – this type of fund enables you to choose a theme or broad area of need to support. For example you may wish to support projects focussing on the elderly, the homeless, or the environment.
Geographical area – this type of fund enables you to focus your giving on a particular area or community of North Yorkshire.
Donor advised – this type of fund gives you the opportunity to select charities that you wish to support.
Step 2: Decide what level of involvement you would prefer.
You may prefer to leave all the detail to us and just receive an annual update on the activity of your fund. However you may prefer to be more actively involved in the grant making process, to receive more regular updates, to go out and visit projects that have benefited from your fund. The level of involvement can be tailor made to suit you.
Step 3: Select how you would like your fund to be set up.
There are two main types of fund :
An endowment fund - this is where your money is invested for the long term benefit of your chosen causes. The income and capital growth generated from the investment of the endowment is available annually to award as grants.
A revenue or flow through fund – this is where you or your company donates a specific sum of money to be awarded as grants over the course of a year, providing a more immediate benefit to your chosen cause.
